If you’ve been holding out for the right deal on a premium OLED , the LG 55-inch C5 OLED Evo 4K TV has finally dropped to a price that makes it hard to ignore. It’s sitting at $1,299.99 on Amazon right now—a solid $500 off its $1,799.99 launch price and the lowest it’s been since release. Price-trackers confirm this is the cheapest it’s been since release, which is impressive considering it only debuted a few months ago. CNET gave it an 8.5/10 , praising its contrast, color accuracy, and overall performance, but advised waiting for a sale. Well, here we are.

The C5 is built on LG’s OLED Evo panel tech, which makes it noticeably brighter than older C-series models like the C4 , though still shy of the flagship G5 or Samsung’s top-tier QLEDs . Peak HDR brightness reportedly reaches around 870 nits, meaning it handles most lighting setups just fine and is plenty for most viewing environments unless you’ve got sunlight directly hitting the screen. And because it’s OLED , black levels are perfect, making movies and games look rich and detailed in darker rooms. Gamers get plenty to like here, too: 4K at 120Hz , four HDMI 2.1 ports, VRR, G-Sync, FreeSync, and low input lag. This means you’re getting smooth gameplay with minimal delay, whether you’re on a PS5 , Xbox Series X , or gaming PC .

On the software side, it runs LG’s latest webOS 24, which now comes with five years of promised updates, a nice bonus if you’re not looking to replace your TV anytime soon. Navigation is handled with the Magic Remote, which also brings Alexa and Google Assistant voice control into the mix. Picture-wise, Dolby Vision and HDR10 support are on board, powered by LG’s Alpha 9 AI Processor Gen8 that upscales and adjusts picture settings dynamically based on what you’re watching. There’s also a Filmmaker Mode that dials back processing for a more authentic movie look. Sound, though, is where it falls short. Dolby Atmos is supported, but the built-in speakers won’t blow anyone away—plan on adding a soundbar if you want audio to match the picture. At this price, though, the C5 makes a strong case for itself as one of the most balanced OLEDs you can buy right now.
