Ahead of Amazon’s October Prime Day sale, the Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+ and five Outdoor 2K+ camera bundle is down to $119.99 from $419.98, a 71% discount and the lowest price trackers have recorded for the set. That works out to roughly $20 per device, which is a steep drop for a whole-home security system. The draw here is covering a whole property without wiring anything, since all six devices run on AA lithium batteries. Each Outdoor 2K+ camera shoots 2K video with color night vision, carries an IP65 weather rating, and offers 4x zoom, so you can check whether a box on the porch is yours or get a clearer look at a car in the driveway. That said, color night vision depends on ambient light, with the camera falling back to black-and-white infrared vision when there isn’t enough of it. As for Blink’s two-year battery claim, it assumes efficiency settings at 1080p and typical use, so running everything at full 2K with constant motion events will shorten that estimate, notes this PCMag review. These cameras also work with accessories made for the Outdoor 4, including its floodlight mount and battery extension pack (sold separately), for anyone wanting to build the system out.
Coming to the doorbell, it records at 1920 x 1920 with a square 140-by-140-degree view that shows a visitor head to toe, and it can be mounted wire-free or connected to an existing doorbell, which is the only way it will trigger your mechanical chime; otherwise, you’ll need a Blink Chime to hear it ring indoors. You’ll also get a Sync Module Core in the box to help connect all these cameras, but it cannot store clips locally, so saving and sharing footage after the 30-day trial means paying for cloud storage, with plans starting at $4.99 per month or $49.99 for the first year (and $69.99 annually thereafter) for one camera or 19.99 per month, or $149.99 for the first year before renewing at $199.99 annually for unlimited devices. Without a subscription, you can still use live view and receive motion alerts.
