If you’re in the market for a premium TV, the 65-inch Sony Bravia 5 Mini-LED is currently at its lowest price ever (according to price trackers ) at $1,198, down from $1,499.99.

Its HDR peaks around 1,000 nits, meaning even daytime sports or action movies won’t get washed out. Plus, its Mini-LED backlight, paired with Sony’s XR Backlight Master Drive, does well with contrast and delivers impressively deep blacks for an LCD. You may notice a bit of blooming around bright objects in very dark scenes, but for most people, that’s not quite a dealbreaker.

The Bravia 5 also caters to how people actually use their TVs now. PlayStation 5 owners get the most obvious perk: The set recognizes the console automatically and tunes itself for smooth, low-lag gaming at 120Hz . Plus, its XR processor upscales older HD shows, smooths motion, and adds enough polish that casual streaming doesn’t feel dated on a big 65-inch screen.

Built-in audio is another practical win here. With Acoustic Multi Audio, the TV’s screen doubles as part of the speaker system, so dialogue and effects feel like they’re coming from the right place without needing an immediate soundbar purchase.

That said, not everyone fits the Sony mold. The LG OLED B4 ($1,296.99) is the alternative in this price range if your priority is pure cinema performance. Its self-lit pixels mean you get flawless blacks with zero blooming, and it handles shadow-heavy scenes with more precision than any backlit panel can. It’s also a little more restrained with processing, a quality that film purists tend to favor. The tradeoff is that it isn’t as bright and the sound isn’t as convincing without extra gear, which usually means budgeting for a soundbar .

If your living room is bright, you want strong built-in sound, or you’re a PS5 owner looking for a TV that optimizes itself for your console, the Bravia 5 makes a lot of sense, especially at this price. But if your setup is more about late-night films and shadow-heavy dramas, the LG B4 might be the smarter play.
