Prime Day 2025 is here from Tuesday, July 8 to Friday, July 11, and Lifehacker is sharing the best sales based on product reviews, comparisons, and price-tracking tools.

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. It’s not just where I cook, it’s where I sort mail, unpack, and occasionally attempt craft projects. Since almost everything I do in the kitchen is hands-on, having a voice assistant has become a luxury that has begun to feel like a necessity. As soon as I learned to shout into the air, “Alexa, how many tablespoons are in half a cup,” or “Alexa, what’s a substitute for buttermilk,” I knew that I would never go back.

The Echo Hub is a sturdy tablet that can serve recipes, so you don’t need to print them out or attempt to fumble with your phone while cooking. In fact, you can ask Alexa to find the recipe and put it on the tablet.

While I’m working, I use the tablet to stream podcasts, music, movies, and TV shows. The resolution and sound on my Echo Hub are surprisingly better than those on my Google tablets, and the screen is more responsive, too (although I usually speak with Alexa instead of scrolling so that I can focus on the task at hand). You can use it to make video calls using the “Drop In” feature, and I occasionally phone a friend for cooking advice or conversation while I cook.

The Echo Hub is fantastic in the kitchen, but it’s also a smart hub for every smart device in my home. I can watch clips from my video doorbell or security cameras, turn on the A/C, or just see what’s on and off. The Echo Hub is one of the most useful devices in my home, so much so that I’ve joked about getting one for the bathrooms, as well. It comes with mounting hardware, so I could install it anywhere the 8″ screen will fit.
