Amazon’s October Prime Day sale is in full swing, and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic (46mm, LTE) is down to $389.99 from $549.99, a $160 discount and its lowest price to date, according to price trackers. That’s still $90 more than the 44mm LTE version of the standard Galaxy Watch 8—even while these smartwatches share most of their core features, including Google Gemini, sleep coaching, and Galaxy AI-powered running plans that can help you prepare for anything from a 5K to a marathon.

What you’re paying extra for with the Classic is primarily its better battery life (49 hours in PCMag’s testing, where the base model needs a charge every day) and more premium hardware, particularly the stainless-steel case and physical rotating bezel (last seen on the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic), which lets you scroll through menus and notifications without constantly swiping across the screen. The Watch 8 Classic comes in a single 46mm size with Samsung’s five-core Exynos W1000 processor, 2GB of memory, and 64GB of storage (twice that of the base Watch 8).
It’s also built for more than everyday wear, with IP68 dust and water resistance, a 5ATM rating, and MIL-STD-810H certification for environmental stresses such as temperature changes, vibration, and shock. As for its health and fitness features, it covers GPS, heart rate tracking (which is reportedly accurate, according to PCMag), blood oxygen, temperature, and ECG monitoring—all while LTE lets you take calls with your phone left at home. The biggest catch is compatibility, since the watch needs an Android 12 or later phone with more than 1.5GB of memory. Also, Samsung keeps gesture controls, AI insights, and snoring detection exclusive to its own phones.
