We love us some home power tools at Lifehacker: Check out these roundups of the best cordless power tools at Amazon and Home Depot that were on sale during October Prime Day to see what I mean. I’ve been perusing tools since the sale started, and I’m definitely buying this DeWalt 20V MAX Cordless Drill and Impact Driver set while it’s on sale for $149 (38% off).
I’m tired of my drill with a damn power cord. It made sense when I bought it 15 years ago, but batteries have gotten so much more compact and powerful since then that you’re not giving up the light weight of a corded drill just because you’re using batteries. Both the drill and impact driver in this DeWalt set are powered by 20Volt Li-ion batteries that weigh around 12 ounces and are about the size of a deck of playing cards. The result is small, maneuverable tools (the drill weighs 3.6 pounds and the impact driver 2.8) that can fix that bookcase without you worrying about where an outlet is.
Some other improvements over my 15-years-ago-drill: an LED worklight, a simple upgrade that makes a huge difference, and one-handed loading of bit tips. The price is pretty sweet too: $149.00, which is 38% off the list price.
