The Ultimate Ears Miniroll is down to $49.99 on Amazon from its $79.99 list price ahead of October Prime Day, and price trackers show that’s the lowest it has sold for so far. It’s a small, flat, puck-shaped Bluetooth speaker that weighs just over half a pound, with a removable rubber strap you can attach to a backpack, bike handlebar, or shower caddy. Despite its size, the Miniroll can get surprisingly loud—which PCMag confirms in its review—and at moderate volume, it has enough sound for a kitchen or backyard without sounding thin. Its 40-meter Bluetooth range also means you can leave your phone inside while the speaker sits on the patio, and if you have more than one Miniroll, a long press on the play button connects them through PartyUp for more volume or stereo sound. As for its battery life, you get about 12 hours of playback before it needs a charge over USB-C, while its IP67 rating protects it from dust and a brief dunk in water.
That said, the Miniroll does have its limits, especially with bass-heavy music. Hip-hop and electronic tracks can sound thinner than they would on a larger speaker, and once you turn the volume past roughly 80%, the sound starts to lose definition, and the speaker itself can vibrate. There’s also no companion app, meaning no equalizer, no EQ presets, no codec switching, and no find-my-speaker function, so what you hear out of the box is what you get permanently.
